Summer English schools for children 2024

We were delighted to be working for the third year with English Country Schools and with them we were able to provide free, non-resident places for refugees and displaced children at their Port Regis based summer schools.

This year children were able to apply for up to three weeks, and many took up that opportunity.

We had hoped that the English Country Schools’ international English Language summer camps would help children and teenagers combine language learning and life skills workshops with a healthy sport and social programme.

The camps took place in a beautiful countryside setting so that 8 - 17 year olds from Ukraine and Syria could enjoy a week in the summer, improving their skills and developing personally and socially.

Here is what parents said about their child’s experience

Thank you so much! It was a wonderful experience for my daughter. She was happy to meet her teachers and friends at school again. The atmosphere is very kind and cheerful. Ksyusha made many new friends, having many joyful emotions and will remember these weeks for a long time. Kind regards  Olga

‘My daughter Olga enjoyed her time at the Port Regis camp; she improved her English and made many new friends .Thank you very much for giving  her the opportunity to visit this camp!
With respect and gratitude Tetiana

We would like to leave a review about this wonderful place! Our children stayed in the summer camp for 3 weeks and were admired with absolutely everything... starting from the time spent there, entertainment, sports activities, learning English and most importantly the people who work there!!! We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who allows Ukrainian children to feel safe, as well as for the opportunity to learn English in such a wonderful school!!!! Thank you!!! Mr. and Mrs. G.

I would like to thank everyone who helped my 9-year-old daughter Zaryna to get a place in the English Country School. She spent an amazing time with her new friends from different countries improving her English language skills. She also liked swimming lessons, walking and trips to Sherborne and Shaftesbury. And a huge thank you to teams  English County School and Shaftesbury Refugee Group for this opportunity and support. Nataliia
