Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show 2024

Thoughts from a Ukrainian guest

We visited the Agro Show yesterday.  The weather could have been better, but the ground and grass were dry.

This year, for some reason, there were fewer rare cars.  But many steam engines.   Among the novelties were camel races.

Bloodhounds were allowed to enter the enclosure and the dogs were happy to have visitors.

You could also hold chickens and pet rabbits.

I really liked the show with spaniels and labradors trained for grouse hunting.  And I was personally impressed by the weight-carrying horses.

The area with attractions and a food court worked. Oksana

And from another Ukrainian guest:

Good day, I would like to thank you and the whole team for your help to all Ukrainian families.

Thank you very much for providing free tickets to the show. It was very interesting. All the English people greeted us warmly and friendly.

It is very sincere and very important for us. It gives us an opportunity to get to know your culture and way of life better.

My family loves to attend such events. I am sincerely grateful to you all for this opportunity. Tatyana

Thank you

We are immensely grateful to the show organisers for providing free tickets for displaced people. This is the third year they have made this offer and over 100 visitors will have benefited from their kindness in that time.

These events make a connection between land, community and the people we have welcomed and are very important cultural moments for us all.
