Kyiv City Ballet arrive

Kyiv City Ballet will finish their short tour at Sadlers Wells Peacock Theatre on 30th September and travel to North Dorset the following day.

It has been a very busy week for them which, from this review, seems to have gone very well.

It seems extraordinary, at this point, that their next performances will be for our community, in schools, dance classes and at our centres of culture, Shaftesbury Arts Centre and The Exchange.

However it became very real today, when they arrived in the afternoon at The Grosvenor Arms,'

The Grosvenor and their owners Stay Original Co have provided accommodation for the company for the week, and without their tremendous generosity we could not have made the visit happen at all.

The transport for Kyiv City Ballet, for the week is a bus hired from Dorset Vehicle Rentals, whose colleague, Lottie has made the arrangements with us.

We have to thank the generosity of DVR who have also made their contribution to keeping our costs down.

Our first event, on Monday evening, will be a reception at Compton McRae where we expect The Lord Lieutenant of Dorset, The Chairman of Dorset Council, The Bishop of Sherborne and the Mayors of Shaftesbury, Gillingham and the deputy Mayor of Sturminster Newton to receive, with Kyiv City Ballet, a welcome to the week.

Ukrainian guests will provide the traditional Bread and Salt and some wonderful Ukrainian food made possible with the marvellous help of Bill Hamilton and Tom Netherton of Compton McRae. Thank you Bill and Tom!

We do hope you can join us at some of the many events that are open to the public during the week.#

Our thanks to the organisations who made the week possible .
