Transport grants Транспортні субсидії

We try to understand what is a barrier to a full and active life for people who have had to flee conflict.

Lack of transport in a rural community can prevent people recently arrived from Ukraine reaching their ambitions to start work, learn English and reach vital appointments such as those in a hospital or an interview.

We have sought grants and received donations over the last year with the aim of meeting the needs of the refugees in our area. We are now able to award some small grants to help with transport. These can be enough to buy a bike for a child or adult or to start driving with tests and a few lesasons.

Eligibility

Our grants are available to refugees and displaced people in Shaftesbury, Gillingham, Motcombe and the surrounding villages including Tisbury and Mere, Chicklade and Fontmell and the East and West Stour villages.  If in doubt about your eligibility, apply anyway.

Subsidised taxi grants

For important and essential journeys, where there is no alternative public transport and attempts to get lifts from friends have failed, we will pay up to 75% of a taxi fare.

Personal transport grants

We do not have the resources to help people buy a car but we know that a small amount of starter money can make it seem possible. This could be for a bicycle or a small amount towards a motor scooter.

Грант на особистий транспорт допоміг цій молодій людині знову почати їздити на велосипеді.

Driving licence grants

When you are ready to gain a licence to drive in the UK we will help you with some of the necessary steps such as the Provisional Licence, ‘Theory Test’, Driving Lessons  and Driving Test.
