Quiz Night and Syrian Feast

Last Saturday, 1st October, we held a quiz night to raise awareness and funds to support displaced people in our area.

The Quiz was hosted by Syrian Cuisine in their restaurant at The St Mary’s Church, Vicarage School Room in Gillingham. Syrian Cuisine have been a great support to people newly displaced from Ukraine and were wonderful hosts on the night. With a fabulous feast of falafel, hummus, chicken and rice and delicious sweet baklava there was barely space to fit in a quiz and raffle the prizes.

We were very generously supported by businesses in Gillingham and were grateful for the raffle prizes from

The generosity of these businesses and that of Bill at Compton Mcrae who provided the main quiz prize of a hamper meant that we were able to raise £200 and had a chance to meet like minded supporters.

It was a great evening in warm company and, although it was never a close thing, with Port Caundle running away with an unassailable lead, all enjoyed the experience hugely. We were all definitely winners with the food!

Thanks once again to Imad, Bayan, Atef and Hanadi, our hosts for the evening, and their lovely boys who helped us hugely with the quiz.

We are looking forward to some future meals at Gillingham Syrian Cuisine and thanks to all who came.

Our next quiz night is already planned for 10th December at 6pm. See our events
