Maryna of Help and Kindness

Hi, I thought I should say a little about myself as an introduction.

I am from Zaporizhzya, Ukraine.

I have a Masters in Journalism, and before the war I worked as a journalist and communication manager. My interest and work was with gender equality, human rights, cultural and social topics.

With two kids I came to England in April because of Russia`s aggressive invasion. Now we live in Weymouth, and my kids go to school in Wyke. The kids are scouts, while their father is serving in Ukrainian Army.

We miss our family and friends very much but are trying to do our best to help and support our country. As well as showing our new British friends that we are very grateful for their help we are happy sharing our culture and traditions.

In Weymouth we created a community group TheWeyUa (The Weymouth area Ukrainian community), we organised some great events here such as The Constitution Day, The Independence Day, volunteer meetings and other things.

I have worked here with the British Ministry of Defence and now I am a Ukrainian Refugee Supporter in #HelpandKindness. I hope my skills can help people in North Dorset by working with groups like Shaftesbury Refugee Group.

If you would like to contact me for support, either as a host or a guest, I am on the WhatsApp group Українці біля Shaftesbury and will get your emails at maryna.dovbysh@helpandkindness.co.uk
