Light up Ukraine

Thanks to a friend I recently read an interesting but disturbing article on how some villages no longer have any power or heat in Ukraine. Most of Ukraine is now being hit with weekly if not daily power cuts. As winter comes this will only get worse (with snow in many areas).

The impact of power shortages in Ukraine

This obviously causes much trouble, not just that they have no light or heat but also means relations overseas often have no contact for days, no idea if their parents, brothers, sisters and the greater family are ok or not.

Unfortunately we don’t have the means to put a stop to Putin and his army but we could help Light up Ukraine.

It would be lovely to be able to send generators out but I expect they are expensive and then hard to send. However, we could easily send solar lights, not the pretty ones in gardens but practical ones that have small solar panels and look a little like light bulbs, easy to pack and send out.

Different types of solar lights

I understand we have a cost of living crisis and therefore many may not be able to contribute. That’s reasonable, but if you might be able to help with a donation or a light (Ebay and Amazon sell them) that would be wonderful. Today I have just approached a humanitarian charity that gets aid such as generators out to those close to the war, where many do not venture.

At this gift giving time you could donate a light in their name! It would be lovely to send out 100, not too big but enough to make a difference, whether to a village, hospital or troops.
