Giving a helping hand

When we arrived in England, one of the strongest impressions was the friendliness with which the locals treated us.

Very often, volunteers helped and supported us. Volunteer work exists in all spheres of social life. We got the impression that all English people provide help and support to each other.

The English people accepted us into their society and provided us with equal rights and responsibilities.

All our compatriots are grateful for this and try to find work to reduce the burden on the state budget.

My wife and I are pensioners, but we are very lucky. We have friends, Penny and Roy, who have been making soft toys for a children's hospital for a long time. Roy provides Penny with everything she needs, and she makes toys. They make a lot of them, and it is difficult for Penny. We offered them our help and they kindly agreed.

Of course, we do the simplest work, Penny does the most difficult, but we help her and it is very nice. We helped make two batches of bears for Dorchester Hospital. We’re making a third batch now. When the next batch of toys is ready, we all take them to the children's hospital together.

Of course, we don't see the children and we give the toys to the medical staff. They are very grateful and say that the children like the toys. This is a very exciting moment and we are all very happy.

The desire of volunteers to help and support people is very important for the whole society, but first of all for the volunteers themselves.
