Citizenship awarded

Imad and Bayan completed their long journey to British citizenship in a ceremony at County Hall, Dorchester, on April 16th.

Bayan and Imad swear allegiance to Britain and its values.

They became citizens by pledging this oath of allegiance.

I, (name), swear by Almighty God that, on becoming a British citizen, I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III, his Heirs and Successors, according to law.

I will give my loyalty to the United Kingdom and respect its rights and freedoms. I will uphold its democratic values. I will observe its laws faithfully and fulfil my duties and obligations as a British citizen.

Callum Bremner and Les Fry spoke in welcome.

They were welcomed to Dorset and the UK by Les Fry, The Vice Chair of Dorset Council and Callum Bremner, the High Sheriff of Dorset.

These dignitaries also awarded them their certificates of naturalisation. Cllr. Val Pothecary, a supporter of our group and of the family was also present.

We have supported Imad, Bayan and their family since they came to the UK seeking sanctuary from the war in Syria in 2018, and we were delighted to be invited to attend the ceremony along with Bernie and Susie who have been a continuous and reliable support.

Congratulations to Imad and Bayan, it is a real joy to us and your many friends that you finally have the security that you longed for.
